Firearms Licensing

The Indiana Firearm Permit Application will now be available online. The online application will be available on the Indiana (http://aries.in.gov/Firearms/Permit.aspx) web site. To access the application, click the Online Application for Handgun License link where provided, complete the questions, and click SUBMIT to issue the request. To complete the request, visit the local law enforcement agency Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm to sign the signature page, give fingerprints, and submit payment.

* A portion of the local fee is refundable if a license is not issued. The entire state fee is refundable if no license is issued. State fee needs to be paid with a certified check or money order only.

Fees are:

Four Year Personal Protection
Local Fee - $10/$5 Refundable*
State Fee - $30

Lifetime Personal Protection/No Current License
Local Fee - $50/$30 Refundable*
State Fee - $75

Lifetime Personal Protection/Current Valid License
Local Fee - $40/$30 Refundable*
State Fee - $60

After you submit your application, you will have the option to schedule an appointment with another company to take your fingerprints. L-1 Identity Solutions, INC. (http://www.l1id.com/) will provide fingerprinting to applicants using INkless, Indiana's Electronic Fingerprinting Network. You can schedule an appointment to have your fingerprints done and can pay the state fee online. Afterwards, you can come to the Bristol Police Department to sign your application and pay the local fee.

You will need to inform us if you had your fingerprints done by L-1 Identity Solutions or if you have an appointment scheduled.

This entire process needs to be completed in 30 days or you will have to submit a new application.
