If a question does not pertain to your specific situation, place “N/A” (not applicable) on the answer line. For example: “Please list military service dates, location, and duties”. If you did not serve in the military, an acceptable answer would be “N/A”. Do not use “N/A” to avoid answering questions. All questions that ask for further explanation must have sufficient explanation to assist administration or the background investigating officer full detail to understand your answer.
