The Bristol Marshal's Posse began in 1965. It is the oldest running Posse in the State of Indiana. The Posse members are active in the Bristol Community as well as assisting other communites with their events.

Posse members patrol the streets of Bristol on horseback on weekends and during the annual Homecoming Festival and Town Fall Party. They also assist the Elkhart County 4H Fair with traffic, participate in local parades, provide security and traffic support at festivals in other towns.

All 12 members of the posse are sworn law enforcement officers for the State of Indiana. The officer and their horse have to complete annual qualifications and many hours of training.

The Bristol Marshal's Posse hosts a bi-annual Pancake/Sausage/Biscuits and Gravy breakfast fundraiser and the Annual R.I.D.E. for D.A.R.E. The pancake breakfast fundraiser supplies the Posse with all of their equipment and training needs. The R.I.D.E. for D.A.R.E. fundraiser allows our local elementary school to provide a D.A.R.E. program to 5th grade students.
